going to oreder an e trac this week Iv read so many different posts i dont know if im coming or going lol I v read some things about the sef 10x12 coils for the e trac now im assuming the coil that comes with the e trac is the pro coil?? wondering if it is worth getting the sef coil?? and if so why? Iv been using an x terra 70 which I will keep for gold... but looking foward to the e trac and want to start out with my best chances...Iv read posts where it was stated to get used to the original coil first. my though that if the sef coil is much better why not get used to that one right away?? thanks for all the posts here this is a great sight for us beginners to learn and observe. I also love seeing the great finds makes me druel and want to get out that much more. Minnesota here looking out at the blizzard #*!% also to add I like to coin and relic hunt have many old homes to hunt in my area 1850's thanks and happy hunting

My answer would be to ask you how much money you have for another coil and how would the SEF be better for you or why do you think you need it?

You will not be disappointed in any way with the pro coil lots of folks will tell you the advantages of both coils and the two are very similar. I Do use the SEF coils because they are very stable and sensitive to small targets and in trash. But I have read lots of posts by others that the pro coil also is very stable and very sensitive in trash and a few guys swear they get better depth with it then the SEF. I guarantee you would be hard pressed to show one is better than the other. I got mine for a good deal and loved the way the oval shape works for me mentally (like a vacuum) and how easy it was to use the tip to pin point if I was in a hurry.

I tried the two together on some buried targets and felt a more pronounced tone and clarity with the SEF in MY SOIL. On top of that I just thought it looked cool and I had to have that. The Pro coil is lighter and every ounce makes a difference if you are out all day. Have you tried them both in your area? Switching between them will not throw your off as we all change coils and its not that hard to get used to any differences and once you dial in the one you like you may still use the other anyway. I love my SEF it works great for me no reason for me to buy the pro coil.

Good luck
