Coil question for Ace 250

I was wondering if Garrett makes a coil cover for the stock coil on the Ace 250. I took it out for the first hunt and in about two hours the coil looked like it had been shot with buckshot. Pretty good sized chunks of the coil chipped off the bottom edge of the coil. I was hunting in an area that had quite a few rocks and I did bump a few of them but nothing hard. I never saw a coil do this before. I have some coils with a few dings in them but I never saw one come apart like this. Anyone else have this problem. Other than the coil, the machine is pretty impressive. It picks through the iron real well if you slow down a bit and it gets real good depth. It ID's iron better than any other Garrett I have used. I know most have said they have to run the machine at 50% power but I could run it at one notch below wide open with no chatter. The ground I was hunting was pretty hot with lots of hot rocks. It did sound off on the hot rocks but as with the rest of my Garretts, it was easy to tell it was a hot rock. It sure does like small targets. I spent quite a bit of time digging through cow flops looking for 230 year old buckshot <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin"> . Thanks for the time. Tim

Hi Tim,
You might have a coil that had a bad cure in the mold. I would contact Mary Penson at Garrett and see if they want to correct it.

I would definately contact Garrett about this one; I am definately not gentle on mine and it still shines on the bottom.
