Coil Problems imaging 9.5 GTI 1500

I was wondering what would cause a coil to work one time and then make a very loud noise the next time I have been using the sniper coil But I was going to check out a volley ball court and when I put my 9.5 coil on it started to make a very loud Buzzing sound. I called Garret and they are replacing it for me But was wondering about Coils what would cause it to do that I do not keep it in the Car I take in with me every time and I do not handle by the cord or treat it ruff I try to take very good care of it So what would cause my problem SO I can make sure I look out for it. Thanks

Rich, I also have noticed this from my 2500. I am figuring that the high mineralization in the sand is causing an overload. I took off the 9.5 and than put on the DD it went away.

The problem is I never even got near anything when it happened I was holding it off the ground I took it off put the sniper back on no problem hook up 9.5 and their it was I did this at the house when I got home with the same results

So the coil is making the same noise after leaving. Sounds like a loose wire in the coil housing, crack in the coil housing itself, bad connection within the coil wire, or the female connector of the coil. By using different coils and the sound goes away seems like it is a strictly Coil issue. Call Garrett. You can send it to them for them to check out, or as a recommendation buy a new coil, the wires get old. Do you have the old White 9.5 or the new black 9.5? I have two old white 9.5 that I no longer use. These were for the GTI 2500. I can send you both for close to nothing just PM me. Very light so ship cost shouldn't be an issue.

I sent it back to Garret they are replacing it its a new GTI 1500 I have only had it a few weeks I just wanted to know what the problem could be, It is black I looked at it very close did not see any cracks and it worked fine the last time I used it. I checked the plug and it seemed fine I keep my coils in a protective box I made and I was thinking it might just be a wire that came loose inside the coil for some reason either way they are sending me a new coil and they already have my old one back. I was just wounding if anyone else has had this problem and what it turned out to be. It kind of puzzling to me that it worked fine and then it didn't I know that some times happens But I am fixing to go on Vacation and its all planned around MY Metal Detector.
