Coil opinions for the Etrac.

I am sure this has been covered before, but I was wondering if you only could have one small coil and one bigger than stock what would it be?
And why?
I was a big fan of the 10x12 sef but not sure if it is worth getting it as it compares to the stock coil. I have been looking at the new 15" wot and the 5x10 sef and the 4.5x7 & 6" excelerator coils.
Anyway opinion on what your got to big and small coils are. I have not seen any reviews on the new 15" wot.
I probably will get the small first and decide if I need anything bigger than stock at a later point.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Jason

I like the 6" excelerator EQ Pro 2 coil myself! If your working in corn fields after harvest the
solid coil sure make hunting easier. Small enough to get in between the stalks and not
hanging up because of the solid design

I have a wide selection of coils and all suit their purpose (5" Stealth, 6" Xcellerator, 6x8 SEF, stock pro coil, and was just given a 13" ultimate). I find myself using the 6x8 and 13" the most with the pro coil thrown in sometimes.

A good friend of mine has the 15" WOT and I have used it on several occasions. It is a good coil with great coverage, but gets really heavy when you swing it a lot. The 13" ultimate is a good hunter because it is almost the same weight as the pro coil, so you don't feel that you are swinging something really heavy.

Another friend has an 8" Sunray coil that he won't give up for anything. Another has a 5x9 which seems to work well too.

All of these coils are good for some situations, and the little ones go really deep for their size. It comes down to what you can justify owning. I also get lower shafts for each of my coils to make swapping a lot easier.

Good luck in your decision!

Thank you
I just bought a 4.5x7 excelerator after seeing the good reviews in it.
Now I am trying to figure out if I should still get the 5x10 sef or go with a bigger coil. 13" ultimate, 10x12 sef or 12x15 sef.

I believe you will find the 13" Ultimate easier to swing for long periods of time. Friends of mine with the bigger SEF coils say they are a little heavier.

Hi folks,

I got both SEF 8x6' + 18x15', almost 1 year now

I can say that the smaller is very precise in pinpointing the exact target and is very useful in trashy areas. The bigger one however cover much more ground very fast, excellent for fields and remote locations. Probably a bit deeper, but this is not proven for me ;]
I will personally use the bigger one when searching a field for the first time, then switch to the smaller one, if it's very trashy and/or if you have found a more promising area. What I think is they are both great, with very precise discrimination. I use the stock coil very rare lately, almost only just to check what it can produce in some exhausted places.

The larger will make you ambidextrous though, I can't swing more than 1h without changing hands.

Hope this helps a bit.

HH

Best,
Alex

Got the 4.5x7 excelerator and ordered a 5x10 sef so far.
I guess the Ctx only having 4 coils wasn't such a bad thing!!!
I am going to be watching out for a 10x12 sef and 13" ultimate. I also at some point want to try the 12x15 and 18x15 sef as well as the 15" wot.
Has anyone had any experience with the new 15" wot?

Put it this way I am probably going to own every coil for the Etrac!!!
I also want to grab a couple spare x1 probes when I can afford them!!
That really stinks they are no longer making them.

Thank you to all that replied so far.
Jason
