coil issue,pioneer 202 and discovery 2200

The coil went out on my 202,I'm not sure why. Have had and used it allot 4 years now. (The QD2 and the 202 are the same machines ,,,right??)

I see where I can go buy a 8' or 10' coil for it,, No problem wt that. What I want to know is if I can interchange the coil from the 2200 to the pioneer 202? They look alike other than the color. Plug seems to be the same.

I would like to buy a 10' coil and put it on the 2200 and use the 8' coil that is on the 2200 now and put it on the pioneer 202.

I see online where to buy a coil for the pioneer 202 but can't find any coils for the 2200. Are they the same?

Would be real sweet if they are. I'm scared to try it.

Went I broke the wires in my 202(Walmart) I replaced it with a coil for a 2200(radio shack). It worked great. But this was back in 2005. Can't say for sure that this is still true.

On the BH website under "parts" is listed a 10" coil for a 2200 for $69.99.

Cool,, I guess I didnt look hard enough. I am going to buy a 10" coil for the 2200 and When I get it, I will try the 8" coil that is on it now on the 202.

Thanks

Ok gopher,,I'm gone take the coil off of my 2200 , right now ,and put in on my 202. I didnt want to try this till I got another new coil .I will be wt no detector if something bad happens.

Being new at this metal detecting thingie, I was out last night with my 202, and no matter how I set the detector, it would beep and buzz and screech, even if I was standing still, there are no overhead wires or underground. Now my feeble little mind kept telling me the batteries were going dead, but the battery indicator was not on. Any advice would be appreciated

Here is where I get all my stuff.

diggindaddy:

I have an Elite 2200 and sometimes it too makes beeping noises for an unknown reason. It happens when my battery indicator shows I still have some battery capacity, but the battery power indicator is at half power. I suspect that it might be related to low battery power. I suggest you try installing new batteries and see if that cures the problem.

The coils are interchangeable. Seems to work fine.

Diggindaddy have you been detecting in the water latly? Sounds to me like your coils is bad, same as what mine was doing. I'm pretty sure that is what happened to mine (the water) but Im not sure.

Good luck

I dont know if the battery thing solved the problem. If not make sure the sensitivity is not too high, but you probally allready tried that.Check connections and wire for cuts. If neither of them work ,, More than likly the coil is bad.

In my area there are several Metal detecters on Craigslist. Some BHers too. People are selling them for cheap. That could be the way to go for a coil, can get the whole unit for the price of a new coil(or close)
One there now, brand new, never out of box 505 for $180 OBO. Some even cheaper ,but used.

Good Luck

There is one at ebay now.
