Coil Help

Ok all I have decided to go with the mxt hopefully in the next few weeks I have already found a couple whites dealers not to far to drive because I don't want to order online and maybe take weeks to get it.
I don't know anything about whites coils I have only used my sharpshooter with the stock coil I think it's an 8' and have mostly hunted parks which was pretty trashy but I have got a lot cleaned out of the ones I been detecting.
My question is after I buy the mxt I'll bout have my budget spent for now on my hobby but would like to get one extra coil if you think I need one.
I intend to expand to looking for relics and it will involve some open fields and wooded areas not sure shouldn't be a lot of trash but I don't know what might have been there years ago.
I will still be hitting the parks as well but don't know if I should get a bigger coil over the stock 950 for the fields and woods or a small one for trashy sites because I don't know how it works.
The one on the detector I have now really surprised me and has worked well for me in all areas but I have had several hours using and have gotten use to how to work it because in the parks I turn the sens down because I don't look for deep items there maybe later on after they get use to me being around but for now it's just my pinpointer and screwdriver.
So if you had a choice of a bigger or smaller coil for the mxt which would it be?

If it was me I would start out with a smaller coil for trashy areas, like the 4 X 6 or 5.3 Eclipse or the 4.5 X 7 Excelerator. You will need one of these before you would want a bigger coil...

Ok thanks Bob that's kinda what I was thinking but wanted to make sure with someone that's been doing this longer because I'm still fairly new and will be my first whites.

Depending on your ground and trash level I would consider a Whites 5.3 concentric or 6" excelerator DD. Rob

I have to agree, smaller coil first. I have both the 4X6 shooter and the 5.3. The shooter is great in heavy trash, but loses depth and coverage due to the small size. The 5.3 is quite good and has very acceptable depth for its size.

Thank you all you're most helpful.
As for the ground in this area I really don't know the readings my detector don't have that option but it don't appear to be to bad because I can run the sens almost full with no problems except when I'm around some of the power lines then it chatters some and have to back it down a bit.
The worst part for me now is the waiting a few weeks to get it I'm 49 years old but I know I'm gonna be just like a kid with a new toy I'm already excited just watching the videos and reading about this great metal detector.

You're going to have a great time learning and digging with that machine. Concentrate on learning the subtleties of the target sounds and use the display to back up what you hear. Otherwise, you'll get to watching the display too much and that may have you passing up the goodies that respond in the same range as some of the trash.
