coil frequencies?:ausflag:

which controls the operation of the detector ,the coils frequency or the detectors control housing frequency. if a coil operates on 15khz could it be used with a machine that operates on say 14.3khz?or does the coil have to be retuned or something? blowfly. kilkis hh.

Detectors have family of coils designed just for them. Except for a few detectors you would need to choose a coil that is made to the frequency in which the detector is designed to use. Some detectors recognize different coil frequencies and adjust to accept them. You would have to be more specific on your make and model for more info.

i have a groundhog coil spare that operates in 15khz ,it's a smaller than my new vaquero's .it operates mid on three frequencies in 14.5khz and i thought i might be able to utilise it in trashy areas. if i made a compatible connections.it seems such a waste to throw it away.to buy the 5.75coil for the vaquero in australia costs $250 our money.now you know.thank you one and all for your imputs . i still have a ace 250 as a back up with a sniper coil . blowfly kilkis.

The Groundhog is old and different technology and wouldn't be compatible with today's technology and swapping coils between different brand machines or old outdated machines can get really costly when you fry one.
