coil for AT Pro

I removed the double D coil from my AT Pro today. I just never was a double D hunter. I installed the 9X6 concentric coil for the AT Pro. Sure did not seem to lose any depth. Was a lot smoother to hunt with. Also much lighter. My house was built in 1955. Been over the yard with about twenty different detectors. Nothing left. Took the AT Pro out there. Just had short time before dark. In one spot under a small tree where I had found two wheaties in the past. Got a really deep coin signal Went over the same spot with my Omega. Not a whisper. But to be fair, the EMI would not let the sensitivity go very high. Did not seem to bother the AT Pro.I just traded for the Pro in the last few days. Could not handle the Double D coil very well. Just put on the concentric about an hour ago. So far so good.....Jack

Good to hear Jack. Been thinking of buying the 6x9 as my small coil. Not quite as good as the Sniper in tot lots but the 6x9 will cover a little more area. Plus at low power will still get up to the play equipment.

Hi, Great news I have been thinking about one....Is there any way you could do an air test between the two and report back.....Thanks....JJ

It's a nice smooth sounding coil too. I was also surprised at how well it will pick out a silver or copper coil with some junk on or beside it. The audio sound on this machine is incredible. Once you get an iffy signal, you just play with it running the coil over it from different directions. If you get a signals in the 70's on up, I dig it. And pin pointing is right on, either by using the center of the coil or the inner front toe for the more shallower targets. I have found that pinpointing off the inner toes gives a more accurate depth reading then the center. pretty soon I am going to switch to the standard coil, and see how the two compare. And as Kenny mentioned, turn down the sensitivity and you can get close to playground equipment. That same scenario is possible with the 9" x 12" also.

Once I put the 9x12 on my 250 it never came off. So as John says I would reduce the power to 1 to 2 bars and got up next to the steel. But since the Pro came with a big coil I'm torn between the Sniper and 6.5x9 coil now. Maybe I'll get both? But really after using the 9x12 and the 11 incher on the Pro the 6.5x9 would be a good "smaller' coil. But I love the Sniper too. Man, I didn't know detecting would be so hard!

[size=medium]Hi,,:wiggle: Since the concentric coil has a different foot print...Do you guys think it would unmask any co-located iron and good targets any better than the DD configuration?..........Especially nails and coins located on a vertical plane thus not relying on angles of approach so much?....
