Coil "ears" question

D&P-OR

Well-known member
Has there been a problem with coil ear (tab) breakage on the stock coil on the Fors CoRe?----This issue has been reported several times on the Racer stock coil---just wondering about that same size (stock) coil on the CoRe.

a very sturdy, rugged build quality. I keep the stock 7X11 DD mounted full-time on my FORS and have absolutely no doubt that this coil will remain free of breakage of the rod-mount "ears" or "tabs." I haven't heard of any issues with these coils, either. I have my Racer 7X11 mounted on its own rod but seldom use it because I keep the small 'OOR' coil mounted on my primary use Racer and just grab the FORS CoRe when I want to use a larger-size coil for more open areas.

The coil balances much better on the FORS as well due to the physical design of both the detector and the coil because the rod-mount point is closer to the center rather than back toward the rear.

The Racer 7X11 and FORS 7X11 are close to the same size but they are made quite differently. If you'd like to see the Nokta FORS 'standard' coil and compare it with the Makro Racer 'standard' coil, and even give the two models a little in-the-field comparison, since you now have a Racer, I would be glad to help you do that. I am awaiting the delivery of a detector this coming week, then I will be headed to Utah and going past your place on the way.

My vehicle will be full, but I could tote an extra Nokta FORS CoRe as far as Baker City and drop it off. You can check them out side-by-side and I will be returning home about July 14th or 15th and can pick it up. Use it all you'd like and that will also let you know about the coil's build quality and how the FORS CoRe and Racer compare in the field (or park or school or ???). I'm trying to find out when UPS will drop my detector off, but I'd guess I'll be headed your way on maybe Thursday or Friday of next week, so if you're interested, just let me know. It would be my pleasure.

Monte

PS: I haven't had a problem with my Racer stock coil, but that might be due to the fact that a.. I pamper my detectors and b.. it seldom gets used.

Coil ears on CoRe. If you break them, you are definitely doing something with the detector you shouldn't be doing. Very thick ears for sure/robust.
