Coil difference

Mephysto

New member
Hi and Happy New Year!!!
Could someone explain me if there's a real difference between old coil (i.e. for dfx) and so called "new ones"? I've got a 6x10 and a 4x6 about 3 years ago from my m6 and I wouldn't have to change them for my new v3i.

The older coils are not "V" rated or nulled for the V3 or the V3i. The "V" rating allows you to turn your RX gain up without overloading.
The none rated "V" coils will work, however its doubtful you will be able to turn yout gain up to anything above about 6.
I'm sure someone else will chime in and can tell you more.

It depends on the age of the coil. The new coils for the DFX are all V nulled if I am not mistaken. Anything older than approximately 12 months is questionable. Check the coil for the V near the serial number to see if it compatible.

I used some non V coils when I first got my V3. The coils worked find in 2.5KHz or in 7.5 KHz, but not in 22.5KHz or Three Frequency modes.
