My stock coil went haywire on me today. It shows targets all over the screen then goes blank and starts it all over again. Tried the 6in coil and it worked fine. Whats the best way to contact minelab to remedy the situation . Thanks

I would call Customer Care: 1-877-767-6522 which is 1 877 sos mlab

I would jujst call them....They might just send a new one to you?....I had a battery go bad....they sent a new one...I got to keep the old one!........I also had a scrren start to get pixels in it......They paid for shipping both ways.....works perfect!!!

Sounds stupid but try removing the coil cover first and make sure you don't have a small piece of iron or heavy magnetite in-between the coil and the cover.

probably doesn't apply to your case but -

my 3030 shows targets all over if its within 150 feet or electric motors or power lines.

my 3030 was acting crazy (beeping at the wrong time ), so I did a total reset, and it seems OK now

Not stupid at all and I should have been flogged for not mentioning it. Hopefully Minelab would have that as one of the first things to ask before they accept a coil back on an RMA or send one out.

Bill, I would have been curious to see if an automatic or manual noise cancel would have fixed the problem. One of my 18th century farms recently installed an electric fence around a large portion of the perimeter and rendered a large area of the farm into a "more difficult to detect zone" since the CTX would somewhat randomly scream out a 12:45 tone and then a lower less desirable tone. I tried automatic and manual noise cancelling but it wouldn't make it any better. I spent half the time swinging the coil over an area again just to make sure the 12:45 I heard wasn't real. I was well over 150 feet from the fence too I would have to pace it off but probably more like 225 or more... Unreal....

I called minelab. That was the bigggest load of crap I ever had to deal with. They first told me the ctx really won, t handle manual sens. At 26. Then I must have bumped it. Then send the whole unit back and they might replace coil. There service is still the worse I ever had to deal with.

sorry to hear that iron...Minelab service was top notch with a problem I just had recently...

please let me explain my answers a bit.

"my 3030 shows targets all over if its within 150 feet or electric motors or power lines." this is with the 11" and 17" coils - I need to try the 6" coil when I am having this problem to see if it is more stable - if so then maybe Ironraven is having an EMI interference problem. (noise cancel does not help me, but switching to pinpoint mode the 3030 works OK - no EMI - I can still find targets and read the pinpoint numbers in pinpoint mode with heavy EMI).

"my 3030 was acting crazy (beeping at the wrong time ), so I did a total reset". in coin mode (M1P1) every thing worked great - the round circle targets would beep, and the red diamond targets would be discriminated out ( silent), with an open screen (M1P2) all would beep as they should.
however in beach modes (M2P1 and M2P2) all targets would beep in both modes - with discrimination on (M2P1) the red diamonds would always beep. the reset seems to have fixed that.

sorry if I am drifting a bit off topic

I tried that and the manual verses auto. No difference. It is displaying the numbers. O-1-0-1-0

Sorry you had so much problem with the service.......could have been the tech you got hold of having a bad day and taking it out on you for no reason. My experience, other than a long hold time, was excellent, both times that I have had to call. The first time was regarding the WM-10 not charging properly and they immediately sent a new one and didn't even want the old one back!! I think a lot of the service and the quality is greatly dependent on the particular person you end up talking with. If at first you are not happy, ask to speak with another tech or a supervisor.

Hope you get things worked out to your satisfaction.

I have had fantastic service from Brian at Minelab
