Coil Delima On the SE

Tony in SC

New member
I've been using the SE for a while and the more I use it the more I like it. I don't really like the stock coil. I started using the X8 and I seem to be getting the same depth on the beach as the stock but with less weight. For more coverage I've been thinking about the Sunray X12. Any comments on this coil? The guys on the California Detecting forum suggest the Explorer II coil. They say it's quieter and a little deeper than the new SE coil, But I know it's heavier. The weight is an issue because I have arthritis in my wrists. Any one using the X12? Thanks for any advice, Tony

The stock se coil does not like wet sand and will false like crazy if the coil gets wet. The explorer 2 coil is the better coil on the beach. No question........ I only use the stock se coil in the dry as i have had a lot of false low tones with the se coil in wet conditions. The se is a really good detector but as for the coil , well i have to say i don't like it..
