coil covers????

Not really. The plastic doesn't interfere with the signals. They are a great investment. I always use mine, as I tend to scrub my coil to maximize my depth and sometimes hunt in exposed rocks/gravel.
And speaking of coils....if you shop around, you will find some coils for other detectors costing as much and sometimes more then the total cost of the ACE 250. Really weird..... The ACE 250 sure is a bargain.

That's ample difference between find and no find. HAAA.

I actually probably gain a bit.
Why? Cuz I'm not as paranoid to scruff up close
to the ground. If I didn't have the cover, I'd
be babying the coil, and would be skimming a bit
higher to avoid scratching it up, or cracking it
on something. With the cover, I don't worry about
it as much, and probably tend to skim lower to the
ground. Of course, I still try to avoid cracking
the sides of the coil on stuff, but on the normal
grass, etc, I go pretty low.
Many people lose a bit of depth by the amount they
stay off the deck. I was watching that TV show a
week or two ago, and that dude on the beach was one
sloppy tecter head. His search coil wire was floppin
around, sloppy search method, coil about 4-5 inches
off the ground at the end of each sloppy "arced"
swing.. Was a wonder he found anything...
