Coil covers

I have one for my GTI2500 9.5" and 5" coils, I don't see a difference in depth but then again I'm still a rookie. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Coils can get a lot of abuse out there. Coils are not cheap and a $10.00 cover is cheap ins. I have them on all my coils. Careful or not they still get banged and scraped. There is no affect on performance.

Necessary? By all means no, it's not a must have item. But, I can tell you that if a coil cover is available for any coil that I use, I will have it!!
Think of it as a skid plate for your searchcoil. Just a little protection when things get rough.(And no matter how careful we are, things get rough) <img src="/metal/html/shocked.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":shock"> <img src="/metal/html/cry.gif" border=0 width=40 height=15 alt=":cry"> I don't know if a coil cover IS available for the 250 (presently, I don't own a 250) but if it was, I'd get one. Absolutely no affect on performance...With protection for Your investment...How much better can it get? <IMG SRC="/metal/html/garrett.gif" BORDER=0 width=33 height=15 ALT="g~"> <img src="/metal/html/super.gif" border=0 width=26 height=28 alt=":super">

Thanks to everyone who answered. I will be ordering one today.

They aren't necessary unless you are in some really rough, rocky, terrain and beating the coil against stuff or you scrub the coil a lot. The Rhino coils are tough as nails and for general coinshooting and such you can get by without one. Also with the open coil a cover would eliminate your visual for pinpointing. It's really a matter of choice.
