Coil covers

New member
Very new to this hobby and was wondering just how important is a coil cover and can I make my own.

I read that you can use a spray truck bed liner which Walmart sell in the auto department. You just have to spray a few layers. Like I said, I haven't tried it. I did buy the spray but decided I was going to upgrade my detector and sell my old one.

I personally, do recommend some type of cover. Bounty Hunter coils are pretty cheap compared to other brands so that is a decision you need to make.

A good coil cover can be made from thin plexi-glass and fastened with zip-ties, or you can buy them...They preserve the resell value of the coil and protect it from scuffs that can cause pinholes in the coil and allow water to enter, destroying the coil in some cases...

HH,

Most coil covers are inexpensive while most coils are expensive ought to cover it...I really don't know if coil covers are available for Bounty Hunter models but for most coils covers can be bought from dealers...

One of the makers of plastic wrap for food bowls makes elasticized plastic covers for bowls of food. The look rather like plastic shower caps. Would they work to protect a coil?
