COIL COVERS: NECESSARY?

Dick from IA

New member
Having an Ace 250 on order, I am curious as to what Garrett owners opinions are about coil covers. Since the Garrett covers are made from RHINO material, which RHINO Bedliners are made of, and knowing what I know about those, I can't believe a coil cover is necessary.

But I am open minded, so looking forward to opinions.

Yes. Do they need it? Not really, as you've observed. The time I feel they make a difference is at RESALE time. Now, I consider each detector I have as a "guest resident" - sooner or later, I'll probably sell it for one reason or another.

One of the first questions a prospective buyer seems to ask is:
"Did you use a coil cover/Does it have a c.c.?"

Oddly, something is minor as that can make or break a sale. Well, since I'm all about MAKING the sale, I consider it a paltry investment.

I say put one on there. It cant hurt, so the odds are good it will help.

The Rhino coils are built to take a lot of abuse and unless you hunt in some really rough terrain or are severely hard on your detector you shouldn't need one. Although I've had one or two I've hunted 42 years without coil covers. It's strictly a matter of choice and the aforementioned.
