if i made a coil adapter male/female plug,could i use a supposedly made hot coil,like a 5.75"widescan coil on a umax detector.would it work,if not,why?i read on a post somewhere that only four wires are actually used on a five pin plug.bye for now,blowfly

It might connect and work in that sense, but the umax machines operate at a different frequency than the HOT machines so it may not work as well as the coils designed for the different frequency. A call to Tesoro would give the straight scoop, I'm sure.
