Coil comparison

Has anyone done a comparison test between the White's D2 coil and another brand 10x12 coil that Kellyco carries? Just curious to the results you get.

From what I read in the V3i forums the "other" brand has serious problems in making good working coils. Check the forum out, there is this user that tested out 4 coils and none worked out, finally he gave up. I would stick to whites coils.

I can only provide some info on the D2, I have never used an off brand coil on my MXT because Whites makes all of the desired coils already. The D2 is really good at seperating really REALLY close to a trash target since the signal is so narrow. The same target was nulled out when I scanned the same area with my 950. The 950 is a great coil but even so the D2 pulled a difficult target left behind by the 950. Thats an unfair comparision since they are very different coils but the D2 is my first DD coil and I'm happy with it. The only thing to keep in mind when you use the D2 is that it VDI's a bit high so each target will look slightly better than it really is. This is good because you will dig targets others see as a bit junky and sometimes it pays off. If your in a good area, you want to dig all the fair signals anyways and the D2 sniffs them out very well.

I've read good and bad about after market coils. Some swear by them, some swear at them. IMHO it's best to stick with the factory coils unless there isn't one suitable for a particular need. Hard to beat the factory backing and development.

I couldn't agree more.... :clapping:

Whites seem to have a rest selection of coils for M6, MXT's, DFX, VX3 and V3i so I never had the need to try a different brand. Like the others have said they stand behind their products as good or better as anyone.
