Coil choice

I have been reading all the posts about smaller coils. The question I need to have answered is: In your opinion what is the best small coil for parks and old home sites that have been torn down. These seem to be very very trashy. I have been looking at the SEF 8X6, Sunray X-5 and maybe the Minelab FBS 8. I know lots of you have used these coils and wanted to get your opinion.

I also want to know about the Minelab 8". I have to decide this month whether or not to buy the 8" coil or more batteries using my certificates. I wish minelab made some smaller or larger coils. Those cert's are only good on MINELAB products.

Take a hard look at the Excelerators from Kellyco. Ive been using the 6" and its a very stable coil for the money. I find the 6" is just the right size between a 8" and 5". Super trash separation and depth. small enough to work around picnic tables and close to structure. Great in the brushy woods where it hard to swing a bigger coil. Also the 6" has good coverage. Again for the money.

The 8" minelab coil is a very good coil and has helped me find a lot of good stuff in trashy areas with very good depth as well,Ray.

Look on the Explorer part of the forum. The moderator there has done a lot of testing with the coils you mention. All other things being equal, I suspect what holds for the Explorer is real close to what one can expect for the E-Trac.

I like minelab 8 its deep sensitive, but heavy... very good coil. I can compare with little joe coiltek with which I spend some time.. for me best works 8

Agree with Jack Flynn.
The X8 is an absolute vacuum cleaner, good separation and a good 8" depth in Beach sand or soil that has minimum mineralization.
