Coil Choice

:canadaflag:First time out with XT70.Going to Fla. and S.C. soon and I am wondering about coil choices for the beaches.I was going to use the stock coil on the dry sand, the 5x10DD HF on the wet sand and the 6DD HF in the water.I dont want to miss any small gold.Any thoughts?Thanks,John.HH.

My thoughts are that's allot of coil changing. If there is a small gold toe ring or something under that coil, you will find it. I would bring the 10.5" HF coil for all the places you plan to go on the beach.

Sorry, but I dont have the 10.5HF, Ihave the 5x10DD HF and its not waterproof.HH. John.

You said, "I dont want to miss any small gold." and on beaches I hate to say it, but I agree you should have a 10.5" DD HF(18.75 kHz) for the beach.

But yes the 5x10 DD HF will work fine for small gold jewelry but just not as deep as the 10.5" DD HF, that is all and also not waterproof.

The X-Terra 70 will not work as good as a BBS and FBS machines on WET saltwater sand but 100% in dry sand.

Get a sand scoop with a sand strainer screen and not punched round holes for the beach. Boy I wish I was going there after Christmas as I hate the cold weather here.
