Coil choice question

Hi,

When would it be a good idea to take the DD off and put a 9.5 concentric on?

Is there some level of mineralization that would make one more desirable to use than the other?
How about ground filter? Does one work better (deeper? more stable?) with a 5.0 filter than the other?
Are there other things to consider when deciding which coil to use?

Thanks,

Mike

It is my understanding that if you have low to moderate mineralization, you will get more depth out of the 9.5 inch concentric coil. The D2 is designed for difficult ground.

As far as the ground filters, lower filters are typically better for mild ground. Lower filters also allow for slower sweep speeds and will give more depth in these conditions. Lower filters are also better for trashy areas.

I prefer the concentric, however if you see my post from last night, my 9.5 inch coil is not V rated and I was unable to keep it stable at RX gains of more than 2. I have since been told that the 2.5 or 7.5 Khz may be better choices than Best Data. I only tried Best Data, so I may check this out today.

I hope this helps,
Neil
