i have four coils for my detector and all of the cables outer coverings are falling to pieces.is this normal for the xterra to start falling to pieces once out warranty. has anyone else found this?i am not happy.emubob

The only cables that I've had do that were on Eastern European made coils for my Explorer SE. None of my Minelab or Coiltek coil cables have had any problem.

I have ten coils and none of them are doing that. What do you clean them with?

Yeah thats odd...mine are fine.
Ive only seen this happen on sovereign tornado coils...the casings would break apart on some ...had both an 8" and 10" do it.
Is that what you mean...like the casing is dry rotting...getting brittle and breaking up/splitting?

yes neil you hit the nail right on the head.that's what happened.the unused ones were stored in the detector box away from any damaging conditions I thought.maybe they don't like our climate.i live in north queenland, australia and it can be hot and humid here most of the time, but none my other brand detector coils have suffered, emubob
