Coil Cable

I was told many years ago, that your coil cable should always be wound tightly around your detector shaft. Is that true and if so does anyone know why? Thanks

falsing from the cable moving around close to the search coil. That also eliminates fasling during a search. And if you hunt brushier locations, it helps eliminate having a snag to hang you up.

The cable should start to swap over the top of the lower rod about 6"-8" from the rod-mount point, and then be wrapped somewhat snuggly, not too tight, and then the last few inches make a gentle bend to go into the coil connector on the housing.

I set up both my rigs (AtPro, F70) to run cable straight up the side of the shaft...with the extra loop up near the plug in at the control box...I have everything taped off like Monte said..no troubles here with falsing....I did this for a reason regarding the vehicle I use to hunt out of...I cannot collapse the shaft of my rigs anymore, (sanded in to be danged) and need to break them down at the top knuckle and sort of fold them in half to transport..it seems to work fine for me...
