Coil cable question

New member
I had a split in the coil cable at the connector, the orange wire broke loose from the pin so I had to solder and lengthen it to repair it. This is on a Sovereign Elite and is the 10" BBS coil (the heavier older style), Anyone know what the extra pin connector in that connector bundle is for?? There is no wire going to it... I'm curious...

The empty pin or no wire has no function only four wires needed for the coil.I'm going to guess and say the meter has a wire for the center pin and the box connector has five wires pinned for this purpose. These control box meter mods cut this center wire or nerve not allowing the use of an in line meter, which IMHO is a big mistake.

At the control box.....

Pin #s
1&2 transmit
3&6 ground
4 recieve
5 meter ID voltage ( to meter if used)

On the coil cable...older BBS coils

Pins 1&2 transmit
pins 3&6 signal ground (redundant)
pin 4 recieve signal
pin 5 not used
