Coil advice for specific hunt...

Hi, I'm somewhat new to MDing and have had my MXT just long enough to get used to it. I'm going on a general hunt on some farm land in WV. I'm wondering what 1 additional coil I should consider. I've only used the stock coil that came with the mxt (9.5"). I will be hunting in fields, around farm houses and in wooded areas.
Thanks for any advice.

I would use either the 6x10 Eclipse DD or the 8x14 Eclipse Deepscan DD 1400. The 6x10 would probably get used more than the 1400, and is an excellent second coil. A lot of MXT users have it on their machines most of the time. It's always on mine.
Hope this helps.

I have all WHITES coils-- I agree that the 6x10- would be most likly the best loop and the 10x14 second best--After getting the 8 in. EXcellerator(Talk to J.W. for his advive if you go with the EXcellerator loop)I feel it has better depth than the 6x10 so dont forget those loops--I do not think that the 14 in would be the best (As you are buying only 1 loop) I think the 10-12 (I would lean toward the 10 In.) would be the best choice---If you get (2) coils get the 5 In. Excellerator or Whites Double D loop as your second coil--There will be areas that will chalenge the Larger loops because of the amount of trash--But they can be used by taking a little more time to pick out the target--Let us know what you decide to get---

Hi,
Thanks for the responses. I don't know much about coils so I'm in the research stage.
The place where I am going should not have much trash (like in parks, etc). If anything there may be some metal farms stuff, but I would guess that if I get a "hit" it will be something, valueable or not.
I'll have access to about 300-800 acres of land with old farm houses, etc.
Should I then be looking for depth in a coil? I would also like to use whatever I get in my normal hunting which is beach and neighorhoods.
Thanks

I have also used the 1400, it will go deeper, but overall the 6 x 10 will get more use. You might find a used one shipped for $85-$90.

If your going to be hunting where alot of ground needs to be covered, a bigger coil in your arsenal is a MUST! I would recommend you go with a 12"Hotshot coil. I've used this coil many times out in the open fields, it's light and it flat out finds the goodies. Then, when you find an area that has alot of iron or trash, go with the 6 by 10 coil to work around the iron alittle better. Hope this helps. <img src="/metal/html/smile.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":)">
