Bryce, I must admit with only 10 hours on the SE, I strayed from your advice to stick with the factory presets as i went out with a friend. He made some adjustments, what I am not sure and i have been on this setting for about 6 hours, I do know that on a 4 hour hunt in 4 locations, neither of us found anything satisfying. We were digging deep clad and moved on.
I do know that my threshold tone is much different. Sometimes it sounds like the famous 'riff" in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Moves all over the place and took some getting used to. I am weak and it was difficult to leave well enough alone due to the quality of his finds vs. mine; especially since he was the one who convinced me I needed a minelab.
I do know that you mentioned that in pinpoint, if the smartfind moves out of coin position you walk on. What if one angle does this but not another angle?
Also, I did dig a worn '17 merc today in a hunted out park and although I was expecting to dig 7", it was only 3 or 4. i knew it would be a difficult find because the tree roots were intense. I just got lucky when my lesche, in between the roots, brought to the surface the coin. any feedback here.
Hopefully, you will still be willing to help me, as my plan was not to stray from your advice.
