Cobra/XDS ?

I was wondering if any of you have used the Gold mountain King Cobra and then the later version XDS? Was there much difference in depth as it was suppose to be an improved model? I know these machines excelled in iron trash and are not what you would call depth demons. These must be rare as hens teeth ,Because I don't remember seeing one for sale. Thanks.

The Gold Mountain King Cobra was basically the same detector as the Tesoro Golden Sabre. It had "120 degree" discrimination and while it was darn good for coin/jewlery hunting it wasn't nearly as good for hunting in iron laden sites as the GMT 1650 that had 180 degree discrimination and split high/low disc ranges. I used a King Cobra and 1650 extensively and both were very good for what they did, but as you noted neither were depth demons. The King Cobra I had was a little deeper on coins in disc mode than the 1650, also a little deeper than the Golden
