Thinking about getting an all purpose detector.These 2 have come to my attention;Cobra and Viper.Any input would be greatly appreciated.

What's your budget and what do you want to use the unit for? Have never heard of either unit you mentioned. You could do much better. Spend the money and do this right, if you want to be successful. Have you ever detected before?
 
Both of these toys you are asking about are made in china and if you want to throw away money then buy them.. Someone said on another board the viper couldn't see a volkswagon under 2 inches of sand.
