Cobra II ?

Where the Old Cobra II Detectors made for Kelly Co. hot on silver coins and as deep as the other Discovery Detector's made by the Great George Payne?

The Discovery built Cobra II's, Vipers and A & S Special go deep in ground as mild as I have here, about the same as the CZ 5's I had, but the Cointrax models and any base Baron with the Deep Hunter module added is deeper.

Also do they have good modulated audio were the deeper coins are softer sounding? That way easy to judge depth with out a meter. Thanks JB or anyone else.

The knob that turns the base Barons on, including the Cobra II, Viper and A & S, is labeled "Sensitivity", but the disc mode gain is preset to maximum and the knob is actually a disc mode threshold adjustment. That allows it to have almost, but not quite, fully saturated audio when the knob is turned fully clockwise and modulated audio with the knob set at a less clockwise position. The father counterclockwise from full clockwise the knob is set the more modulated the audio response.

Sensitivity in both disc and all metal mode is preset to the maximum setting, and turning the knob clockwise performs the same function as turning up the threshold on other detectors to "super tune" them. The base Baron's will go as deep with the knob set halfway between barely turned on and and all the way clockwise, but deeper targets give a weaker audio response. In response to a question on Carl's older forum, basically the same question you've asked, George said it"s easier to understand how it works if it's thought of as a volume control instead of a gain or sensitivity control.
