Cobra II

I don't know if this is a analog unit but is it still being made? Was it as deep as the newer treasure barons? I always like the looks of that unit! It would be cool to find one new still in the box,or like new condition.

I had one back in the day. (1986) They're not being made any more.
The Cobra, King Cobra, and Cobra ll were made by Gold Mountain Technologies for Kellyco.
Great quality, good depth, and one of the first actually useful notch filters in the industry.
I recently saw a King Cobra on Ebay go for $225.00, and I am still kicking myself for not snagging it.
If you see one in good shape, you better get it quick, because I will be right there, trying to beat you out of it.

The Cobra II, actually Kellyco sold two Cobra II versions, were made by Discovery Electronics beginning in late 1994 or early 1995.. The earlier Cobra's were made by Gold Mountain. The first Discovery made Cobra II is a base Treasure Baron with a notch feature, and A & S sold the same detector as the A & S Special beginning in 2002. Kellyco also sold a Discovery Electronics made Viper that was the same as the Cobra II with an LED intensity meter added. The second Cobra II was the Millennium II Cointrax Baron with version 2.1 chip, but they only used the Cobra II name for a short time for it. The current Cobra and Viper models they sell are made in China and aren't close to the Discovery built detectors in performance. The Discovery built Cobra II's, Vipers and A & S Special aren't as deep as Cointrax II with the latest chip in Deepsearch mode, or the Barons that take the rear mounted Deephunter module when it's used, but I have two of the Cobra versions, an A & S Special and a Viper, and both have excellent depth. I use the A & S and Viper about 90 percent of the time and have found coins as deep as I have with any detector I've used except the Cointrax in Deepsearch mode. I've hunted with guys using the latest, supposedly deeper, detectors and checked deep signals and thus far they haven't got a deep signal the A & S and Viper wouldn't get. Discovery stopped production of all the Baron models last year and are only building their two box unit and the coils Jimmy Sierra sells. Link is to history of the Cobra detectors.

All of the Baron versions except the Cointrax, SST and Goldtrax are analog. The pre Millennium II Cointrax models use the audio circuitry on the base board, so the audio is analog. The Goldtrax uses the base board for discrimination mode so it's analog except in all metal mode..
