Coal mine scrip

Here's a piece of scrip I found. However I am unable to even find a listing on the coal Co. or the scrip. Front says "good for 10 in merchandise" back says"Campbell Coal Mining Company--Remy, Tn" I was able to locate a Remy Tn. which is located in a coal mining area. Its a ghost town now.Any info would be appreciated. Thanks and Good Luck.

I love to find tokens. I have found store tokens, trolley line tokens, bus tokens. They are a REAL piece of "real life". Money, coins etc., were everywhere, good for anyone to use. But a token like yours was only for those who lived and worked at THAT locale. You could theoretically find out who likely HELD that token at one time or another - it is a link to the the REAL past, and REAL people.
Congrats and much enjoyment to you tracing it's background. <img src="/metal/html/grin.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":grin">

This piece is from Remy,TN. Located in Cambell County. Found it in my Edkins Catalog of US coal Co scrip. only 1-4 pieces known at this time. You may get anywhere from $20-$60 for the piece. I do buy coal mine scrip tokens or collections.
Regards,
John
