Coal Cinders

All the old schools where I hunt have used coal as a primary heating source in the past. It seems as though they dumped and spread out the cinders in many locations on the school property. Some in one area and others were spread out everywhere. My Tejon doesn't like this kind of enviroment. It chirps and blips all the time. I can turn it down to 0 and get away from some of the noise, but I guess by doing so I've lost a lot of depth. Anyone every had a problem like this?

I had the same problem while hunting a civil war camp a couple of years ago.
I was using the Xterra 50 at the time and just just slowed down to try to get better separation between the cinders and bullets.
It was tough hunting, but I learned a great deal about my then new detector.
It was worth the effort since myself and others found about 130 .52 cal. sharps dropped bullets and lots of melted lead.
I figured that they were molding bullets since we found most of the bullets in a very small area and the cinders were in the same proximity as the the bulk of bullet finds.
