Hi all,
My local club sponsored a club hunt today in sunny Northern California. There were only 3 or 4 members using Minelabs - all Explorers except mine. I was the only one carrying the banner for the X-Terra 70. The vast majority were using White's MXT's. DFX's, and XLT's were also there. One or two Fischers and a couple of Bounty Hunters and Tesoros. Oh, and one Wilson.
Anyone know anything about a Wilson? The guy said it would pick a quarter next to a aluminum can or somesuch.
At any rate, I was wondering how some of you folks would set up the X-T 70 for a mass field hunt? The field was a grass park, just mowed. The targets - mostly colored pennies, a few Standing Liberties, silver dimes and Buffaloes, were thrown around inside the perimeter. Nothing was planted, everything was in or on the grass.
I noticed some of the folks had trouble with interference from all the machines.
I, on the other hand, only heard the signal of good targets.
It was my first organised hunt and I got there a few minutes before the event began, so I missed any last minute instructions. I hunted around the perimeter, but that strategy didn't work to good this year. I would have been good in years past, I heard later.
I did end up with a Merc dime and a specially minted silver Calif. coin, had a fine time and met some great people.
