Club hunt last Sat.:clapping:

Had our club hunt last Sat at another pounded to death camping area. Started out in a real swampy grass area and didn't wear my boots:veryangry: That was my first mistake and right off the bat my feet were soaking wet!!!! I decided to go across the street where it was drier and a spot where I have gotten Barber coins in the past. Got a weird signal and it was 14 in digital thinking it might be a gold ring.:clapping: Wrong!!!!! Turns out it was a small pocket spill being a 1914 buffalo nickle, a 1917, 1924 and 1925 wheaties. Headed for a spot where I got a barber dime before and I got one of those iffy signals. Dug my plug and out pops a 1906s Barber dime:super: I thought ok, I got my first silver and I was happy with that. Next target turned out to be a 1945 war nickle and then another no date buff. I tried that nic-a-date stuff, but it didn't work. Got a no date wheatie and a 1958 and one of the ugliest merc dimes (191:geek: that I have ever found. I saved the best for last. I went down to where this older house use to be and started working this hillside. Got a nice signal and wasn't really paying attention to my depth. Dug my usual plug and ran my X-1 probe in the hole and nothing!! Checked my plug and still nothing!! Come to find out my plug was right next to a mole hill and right on top was this well worn 1900 Barber quarter:surprised: I got to take my hat off and thank that mole for pushing this baby close to the top:clapping: Made my day to say the least and four silvers from this pounded to death place just goes to show that a place is never hunted out. My other neat find was some kind of an adjustable pulley device. It's about six inches long and about an inch wide and I'm hoping maybe one of you guys can help me figure out what the heck this could have been used for. The bottom has the words that says registered Feb 2 1877 and No ???? and what looks like the letters JC & S. Had a great day and thanks for looking. HH.

Wonder what brand of detector the mole uses?

Say, a 1914 Buff is a pretty good find. If it has a mintmark, worth a bit too (especially a 'D').

Some heated peroxide might pull a date from the other Wheat (looks like 1920-ish from the pic).

Cool finds!

Not sure what kind of detector that mole used, but it sure made it easy for me:clap: That buff is a 1914s. Not a G4 or it would have been worth $24:cry: I think that wheat was 1927, but I used the brush on it and it wiped out the date that was there:thumbdown: HH.
