Club competion hunt help!!

Happy Hunter

New member
Hi folks,, i'm the president of a fairly new club up here in Canada. We're looking at doing a seeded competion hunt in the spring on a large unused football field , but we are not sure how to go about doing this. What do we plant,,depth,,any and all suggestions, hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, A club I recently joined has fun hunts with planted coins. I have not done one of these yet, but have heard lots about them. Come up with a complete dollar amount for what you want to give away. Put aside some nice coins as the "ones to find". Keep them aside and replace them with specific tokens that are numbered. These go into the ground and are redeemable for the good coins. Then spend the rest of the dollar amount in face value coins. In Canada you have more than just 1 dollar coins. Split it up for small change, $1, $2, etc... coins. Bury them the night before at no more than 3". This allows any detector (expensive or not) to find the target. It's fair for everyone. Also sensitivity can be reduced so as not to interfere with one another. Headphones are mandatory. Can you imagine all that beeping? Also think of a grand prize token (let's say for a lower priced machine). Maybe let dealers advertise somehow and in lieu of payment, scoops, shovels and other accessories can be donated as prizes. Just some ideas. Good luck!!

I just went to my first MD club meeting, and they talked about a hunt they ran in December. They also used numbered tokens, but to make it more fun for everyone and less competitive per se, they actually have a drawing with the token numbers. So the more tokens you find, the more times your entered into their drawing.
