As I was detecting on one of our local beaches I slipped and dropped my SE Pro in the water!!. As I don't use headphones I have a thick plastic bag over the battery compartment but a little water still got in, I also have a bag over the electronics box, the machine then went off. Fortunately I keep a spare machine in the car.
When I returned home I feared the worst but managed to remove the screws from the detector case, a small amount of water had got into the housing which was removed, I then left it in a heated room for a few days, it has now fires up and seems to be working fine.
I think I shall have to get out more to find enough for a new detector. The other day we had a 100mph gale so it may have stirred up the sand a bit for me to find some good stuff.
Next week we have a few 7.7mt tides so hope to get out.

Salt water is a killer relative the innards but many time fresh water dried out causes no problems..Been there myself several times with fresh water....
