Clearwater beach

Headed down to clearwater next week for some time off. Plan on staying just north of pier 60. Anyone consider this a decent stretch of beach to detect or should I make plans to find another area while in town? Also if anyone cares to tagteam the beach anytime between 30 june and 3 july, just let me know. I'm so used to hunting Jacksonville area that getting in the water is going to be like a huge reprieve from getting pounded to death on the east coast, lol.

Well I certainly plan on giving it a try. Hope to think I have decent technique (only around 5 yrs of finding items) and a half way decent detector (Excal 2). All in all, I imagine I have the same chance as anyone else, guess it all depends if I can get my coil over a target or not. The main reason I enjoy this hobby is just to relax and enjoy the hunt. Gives me a break from having to actually "think" about what I am doing.

I plan on having fun, finding anything or not. Its just a huge bonus to see that beautiful gold color in the bottom of my scoop!

I'm in Clearwater now just north of pier 60, planned to do some beach hunting myself but the surf is still a little rough because of Debby. Weather is clearing up so might try it this evening. I'll probably still be here during that week. Post and let me know when you get here and I might try to touch base with you. You might teach this old KY boy a few things about beach hunting.
God Bless

Any beach is good now as TS Debby has moved out a lot of sand. Anywhere from Clearwater Beach down South to Pass-A-Grille, Ft. Desoto.

You will have a great time, that is an exhausted beach but with the Debby in town there is a lot sand being pulled off the beaches, I wish I was off next week I would be out everyday.

Also, check out the tide table some good negative tides in the afternoons!

Its all new hunting grounds From Clearwater south...we lost tons of beach, and its so early in the Hurricane season,a big concern already..and no money for beach refurbishment in the near future..HH bob.oz

Last weekend I hunted a few miles south of CW Beach at Belleaire Beach, then at St Pete beach.
Water was dirty from sand replenishment. No gold on that trip.
In the past years CW beach has given me an occasional gold but mostly silver rings, toe rings, and clad coins.
CW beach has a local detector "crew" and you will see some of them every morning out to chest deep.

I imagine the popular beaches will be cleaned out by the local detectorists before the weekend hits, soon as water is calm enough to detect.

From Sand Key south to St Pete beach is solid condos and hotels. Maybe about 20 miles of beach.
Try Madeira, Indian Rocks, Belleair.
Those are rarely hunted and less so in the uncrowded beaches in between.
I found a lot of coins in the undercut bank at beach edge and a few bottle caps.
If i had hunted longer I imagine I would get jewelry sooner or later.

Thanks for all of the informaton, I will try and put it to good use. Going to certainly try those beaches a bit more south, but I will have to try my luck there around the hotel as well. Never know what you can find and even the best detectorist will leave a bauble or two behind they miss.

Will see if we can find some time to hunt together Bud. Will PM you when I get down there.
