clear cover faceplate on at pro and gold

does anyone know if this is user replaceable or does it have to get sent in to garrett to be replaced. reason I ask is I see quite a few pics of detectorists putting their finds on this faceplate and taking pics like that, and since its plastic thats gotta be scratching it, but Ive not read anything about any type of cover for it, so maybe its easily replaced?

Since the detector is sealed for up to 10ft underwater. I'd say Garrett would have to fix it. Though if your worried about scratches on the faceplate, I saw on this forum where a raincover for the GTI1500 sold by Kellyco fits the atpro or atgold perfectly.

Easy fix to avoid scratching faceplate is to use a cellphone screen protector,

none stcky and no residue, easy to put on or take off and not expensive

The faceplate on the front is actually stick on and made by 3M.The screws to take the detector apart are under the faceplate. When mine was sent in for repair they peeled it back to get to the screws and didn't replace it with a new one. When I got it in the water the corner peeled up.I had to call Garrett and they sent me a new faceplate.Peeled the old one off and stuck the new one on.

I had scratched my face- plate, which they replaced during the up-grade (cheers Garrett). Now I always use a screen protector . The screen-protector has taken a bashing , but they are very hard to scratch and when it does, time for the next one.

A cell phone screen cover may be too small.......but the screen covers used for hand held computer tablets can be cut to size for a perfect fit.
