Cleansweep question.....

Hi folks and a greetings from Australia. I own a Cibola which is an utterly brilliant machine, and I'm planning on getting a Silver Umax as a back up.
I also want to try the 18 x 3 cleansweep coil, and I'm looking for opinions on whether to buy it for the Cibola, or the Umax. Will it give similar results on either machine?

cheers!

Can't speak as to how it will work on the Cibola. On the uMax it works great on the Silver. Very stable. Can crank SENS to max usually with no problems. Can turn down SENS and still get really close to metal bars and bleachers. 6" on quarters easy. I do use it mostly on a Silver Sabre uMax, which is same layout pretty much as the Cibola, except 10K. Either way you can't go wrong.

I have the 3x18, swap it back and forth on the Cortes and Golden. Excellent for tot lots, covers a lot of ground real quick. Not nearly as deep as the 9x8 but great for shallow stuff, can walk much faster. Not heavy either. I recommend it for shallower hunting. Not good in trashy places.

Haven't used one on the uMax series.

I have one for the Cibola and Tejon. Use it mostly on the Tejon. Tejon is deeper.

When I only want to go shallow and look for very recent drops, I've used it on the Cibola with the sensitivity down around 3 to 4.

Yes it can get closer to play ground posts than the standard coil.

Would think it would act similarly on either series.
Cheers,

+ 1

3 x 18 is great for covering open areas in less time.

It is noticeably heavier than a donut coil, yet not too much.
(Some folks swivel it around, 180%, so the long part comes inward, for less outward suspension of the weight.)

They do pinpoint well.

I could not consider it to be a deep seeking coil, at all.

I recommend buying it for the Cibola...you should get a little better depth on the Cibola than using it on the Silver UMax.
