Cleaning up silver rings from the beach

I found this ring at the beach the other day. Could barely tell it was a ring. Soaked it in Tarn-ex for a couple hours, scrubbed it with salt and baking soda, then polished it with a Dremel tool with Tripoli and then rouge. Photos don't do this ring justice. How do you all clean up your silver jewellery?

WOW! That is an amazing transformation. Great looking ring too - if it fits, wear it. If only we knew the history behind that one. Good Job!

Looks nice.

Personally I put all the pieces in a pot on a pad of aluminum foil, cover them in baking soda then add a bunch of peroxide and let it boil on the stove for a while, take out and rub with baking soda a few times during the process to see how they are coming along.

In bad cases i have used vinegar and salt then soaked it over night that works wonders but it's quite evasive.

Also tomato sauce gives you good results. Someone said to soak in peroxide over a few days,i tried that but i had no results on that one.

Once the rubbish is off i use a silver polish and a soft tooth brush, rinse, then polish with a silver cloth from the local supermarket. So that's my tip.

Cheers H.H.Maureen..

Don't believe I've ever seen a silver ring that encrusted before. Hard to believe those are the same ring. Great job. Rick

Aluminum foil formed to a bowl shape, shinny side up. Add vinegar to cover item. Then soak it for 30 minutes, add baking soda to make a paste and start rubbing it with your fingers. You can use a toothbrush for the nooks and crans.
