Cleaning the Excal II

Philandlil

New member
Hello to all again, I was wondering how thoroughly do ya'll clean you Excal each time you use it? I've been at a fresh water beach twice with my new one and it has sandy grit in all the nooks and crannies when I get out, rinsing it off at home doesn't get all the sand out between the battery/control cylinder and inside the shaft, in fact when I removed the battery/cylinder, I could tell that there was grit in the push pins, so I removed the shaft and rinsed inside the shaft the best I could. Do ya'll take yours apart and rinse every time you use it?

I've never felt the need to take mine apart, I either dunk mine in the pool or take it to the shower and give it a good blast with the shower massage. I have been taking my coil cover off about twice a week, or when I feel like it's falsing.

I wash mine with fresh water after each hunt and take apart and clean about every tenth hunt , less if fresh water hunts only. If you let your shaft set with saltwater it will corrode and bind up and not want to come apart.I spray a little corrosion X in my shafts to keep them from corroding.

Make sure you flush out the aluminum tube. I clean mine as if it were a rifle. Use it,clean it, and keep it ready for a long long time to come.
