cleaning the clad

Hey can anyone give me some guidance on which kind and size of tumbler I should get? I need to clean up couple hundred in clad, and washing just doesn't do it. Also what kind of grit do most of you use?

I have the cheap one from Hobby Lobby which has cleaned hundreds of clad coins for me. A little gravel ,couple drops of soap and some water. I put in about 40 to 50 pennies at a time. Does a great job. Harbor Freight has the Chicago brand on sale for $22.00. It has a rubber barrel which is quieter and it is built better than the one i have.

Lortone makes a good one. Many detector dealers carry this one. Also check with Kellyco. The barrel is rubber and is five inches long and 4.75 inches in diameter. Use a little water, some aquarium gravel, and a bit of concentrated cleaner. You can also throw a piece of a brillo pad into the mix.

Any other experienced pointers. I have only cleaned them like i said in my other post. Having any more fun with the 250 Bill.

Not for a few days. Been raining and cold here. Hoping for some sun so I can get out.

My recipe is as follows:
1/4 to 1/3 full of playground sand (cheap to buy or you can 'harvest' some from the local playground! <img src="/metal/html/lol.gif" border=0 width=15 height=15 alt=":lol"> )
coins to 2/3 full (either all silver and nickel or all copper - never mix or you'll get a collection of light orange quarters and dimes)
water to cover
juice from 1/2 lemon
pinch of salt
I tumble this overnight. I wash it through screen mesh and don't worry about reusing the sand. Don't wash it over anyplace you want to have grass or such. The salt will kill the grass.
Works great!!!
