cleaning coins

Just let them soak in water.Anything else will ruin them. Now with clad I will soak them in vinegar until good enough to put in my pocket and spend. This is the cheapest way to do I've found because vinegar cost's next to nothing by the gallon.

I agree--use the most gentle methods first. The mercury dimes shouldn't need too much cleaning, and the buffalo is likely best cleaned with soap and water. If you can take some, pictures would really help.

Anything vinegar based does pretty good to cleaning up, I use hot sauce on them, just let them soak for awhile, its a cheap way to clean them, it doesn't work good as a tumbler but it will help to I'd them.
