Cleaning clad

Clancy

New member
I am a newbie to this site but wanted to share with you what I have discovered about cleaning the clad coins I have found.
I read and tried numerous ways that others have posted but none seem to work as well for me as my method. I built a tumbler from parts I had laying around so not much expense there. I took 10 shotgun shells and took the steel shot out of them and put them in my tumbler can and added WD-40 to cover all the shot and coins. I than tumbled them and periodically checked the progress until I was satisfied they were at the point of cleanliness that I wanted. It did not destroy the coin and got all of most all the crude and discoloration off the coins. So far it is the best method I have found, hope it helps some of you out there with yours.

There a guy here in our club posted a video on youtube how to clean coins and it works very good. It only takes 30 minutes, I've try it and it works great. Harbor Freight single 3lbs tumber vinegar, salts and small rocks.
