Cleaning a Vaquero

Member
I got my Vaq pretty dirty last weekend, especially the handle which is mud encrusted. What is the best way to clean the handle and the control box top.
Thx,
Andy from Hillsborough

I use the spray nozzle at the kitchen sink. Cover control box with plastic grocery bag. While holding and squeezing off and on spray handle till water run-off is pretty clear and then take dry towel and squeeze off and on till water is pulled out.

It may sound funny, but I use wet ones or baby wipes to clean my detector when I am done. You would be surprised at the many uses those things have. They also can be used on the grip. I just clean the excess mud off and then put the wipe over the handle and squeeze. It wets the grip and the wipe absorbs the mud that is squeezed out. I then repeat the process until the handle is visibly clean.

I use shaving cream and q tips to clean detector faceplates... i use thicker shaving cream that way there is less chance of moisture getting into the box... a very little bit goes along way....
