me and g4e hit a few house after i got out of work Friday. he scored some sweet finds and i scored some odd 1's. my etrac was going bonkers over this 1861 seeded 1/2 and this other coin? some numbers i would not usually dig but i did anyways, also pulled 5 wheat's most are from the 40's or 50's badly worn dates a car and a baby spoon with a dog handle on it or maybe its a dogs spoon .so as i could see my seeded 1/2 wasn't silver and was badly corroded i went to town on it with a sos pad. any clue on these counterfeit coins or play coin? And also does any1 like my background ?

Just so you know... The coin is a "Seated" as Ms. Liberty is seated in the coin... Cooroded or tarnished ?? Looks like is might have been in a fire ?? Can't tell on the other coin without better picture of it...

and if it is counterfeit... some counterfeit coins are still worth big $$$, but usually fake silver coins are lead and/or pewter... That looks silver to me... *shrug*

Seated Liberty Half is a rare find... Congratulations...

I saw them when he dug them, they are flaking bad and appear to be made of pewter, I think they are a cool find....and hey you can still say you dug a seated half!

Your "Seated" Half appears to me to be a copy of a Confederate Half Dollar , judging from the reverse. Bet a little "Googling" will give you the answer.
Cool Background. Looks like an old Township map with landowner's names and house locations......Very handy research tool!

Congratulations on the finds. That seated is still a neat find I think.

Thanks for the pictures.

found the 2 coins from above booth for sale at the Liberty bell museum. a big let down but still a cool find

That is a very interesting find.. when I saw your post that had "Seated" and "SoS Pad" I bout got sick.. Good post!

Hey Jim, still a nice find. I bet you were excited when you pulled it out of the hole. Sometimes you have to taste test the soup before you get a big bowl so maybe the next one will be the real deal. I love using old maps for background. HH.
