CLEAN VOLTAGE VS DIRTY VOLTAGE

ANDY N.W.IA.

New member
I BOUGHT A ENERGIZER RECHARGEABLE UNIT AT WALL-MART LAST WEEK IT CHARGES 8 -AA BATTERIES AT ONE TIME THEY ARE 2450 MAH I FIRST USED THE RECHARGEABLE UNIT THAT COMES WITH THE EXPLORER XS AND THEN I USED THE AA BATTERY PACKET WITH ALKALINE BATTERIES THEN I USED THE NEW ENERGIZERS AND THAT IS WHY I AM SAYING CLEAN VOLTAGE VS DIRTY VOLTAGE ( YES THERE IS SUCH A THING ) BECAUSE IT IS GOING DEEP AND I MAY NEED TO INVEST IN A BACKHOE

Sir,, you are correct there is dirty and clean voltage, how ever, dirty voltage is usualy asociated with AC,in which, voltage being supplied by a generator or AC caps being dicharged improperly,or in big plant facilities which harmonics are reaching in the 5 or 6 stage of harmonics, now with that being said .. my guess is that with tthe new cell packs you got . the cells are being properly charged and all the cells are are discharging the correct current .thus supplying the current properly across the circuts of your machine ,in return the machine is preforming much better, your machine is DC,,usualy no bleed or dirty voltage can be produced do to the fact in flows only one way, if its working that well i would purchase a backhoe.lol.. good luck find some good things.

You sound like an electrician or engineer.....in order to have clean power(ac), you need an autotransformer. :nerd: haha......good points

AC to DC converters also produce a dirty voltage if the caps are dried or resistor values start to drift upward due to heat. Switching power supplies like the ones in your computer can get real nasty with age but there shouldn't be such a thing in bat. powered instruments unless they are using a step up dc to dc converted to raise the voltage at the expense of lowering the current. But the man is right that a battier cant produce anything other than clean voltage. I am electronics tech and I back what he said.

Here is one for you... When installing an "isolated ground" receptacle into a grounded 4square box, what happens to the isolated ground when the recept makes contact with the box?? The Rec is a clean ground, but the box has the standard ground running to the regular old ground bar in the panel, along with any ground it picks up from the EMT.... Just a thought... HH Joe

Joe,,,,,,,,,, AN isolated ground is just that ,,,isolated,,,,,and in order to be isolated there cant be another path of ground with less resistance,, Isolated grounds are usualy used for communications....in which communication wires ...to meet standards have to be at least 24 inches away from any harmonic producing emts or cableings carrying voltage or current.

Dave is a Engineer, and a pilot,, and a school teacher, and a paint store manager, and a plant manager, and a hunter, and a gold digging fool, and a fisherman, and a electrician "fixed my power windows" and a painter, and a slacker, oh and the most important one of all... a OLD GUY  lol

To properly install an Isolated ground receptical, you run 2 grounds, the solid green wire goes to the box only and runs back to panel and attaches to the ground bar there. the green wire with a yellow tracer will be your isolated ground, which goes to the special isolated ground recept. only, the recept. ground only sees the plug going into it and not the metal ears or the box. The other end goes to the isolated(meaning it does not touch the metal of the panel) ground bar in the panel, for which it goes back to the main panel service and is hooked to the main panel ground....got it?

Got it.. I Ohm'ed one today and found that the ground terminal and the ground screw was the same thing, BUT the receptacles "ears" were not common to the plug ground like a regular recept is.. Thank you, been wondering that one for a while... HH Joe

hey you guys--just make sure YOU do'nt get grounded..here's one thats funny but really really serious.one morning at work, two painters came in and one asked me what to do about his buddy.his buddy was white as a sheet and trembling pretty good.i asked about the problem and he told me that his buddy had hot wired the house after his power was cut loose for non-payment.as he was leaving home he heard the power box making a weird noise and in an attempt to remedy the problem,he made the mistake of trying to open the lid and he almost did'nt get loose.i told him to get to the emergency room pronto..but he had to fool around and call mother first-she said go to emergency room.then my boss arrived and had to get ugly to him before he would go.some people just do'nt quite get the picture sometimes.-----good luck to all this weekend.:minelab::minelab::usaflag:
