Clean Sweep Coil?

Well-known member
Anyone use the Clean Sweep coil? Just wondering what to expect? I have just ordered one for my Tejon/Cibola - hoping that it will speed things up in larger areas.

It will 'speed things up,' as you put it.
It will also unbalance you and possibly wear you out a bit faster, at least until you get used to it.

It doesn't have the depth of the concentrics you're accustomed to, but on the Cib/Tejon platform, it wont suffer too much. They are good in most open areas, like soccer fields, but my favorite place to use one is on the sandy beach.

The Clean Sweep Coil.if you are talking about the 3 by 18 is a definite coil to have..I bought one for the Silver, sold it when I got one for the Vaquero..With the Silver, tot lots were fair game , except in the holes around the swings. In those holes, if you didn't work with one end in the air, other on the ground, coins will be missed ..It worked well on soccer fields. as well as the local sand beaches..The V has a lot more "reach out and grab something".Really kills the tot lots.I've been over a soccer field, didn't dig, but got plenty of signals that clicked out in the range where you would lose small gold rings. Ground was frozen..There is a lot of conventional wisdom that says you can use something here, but not there..For example, Tesoros may be a lot better on wet salt sand than anyone thought.....because other detectors crapped out in that environment..I have a story told to me of a 20 dollar gold piece, on a buckle made from melted down family rings lost in a woods..You would assume that the 3 x 18 would be not the coil to use, however, that 3 inch width slides in where you can't get an 8 by 10.Would it be there? How many of you go into woods, or over grown areas.? Until I try out the coil, we'll see. If it does not work.I am sure I can always borrow a 5.75 coil from someone way North of me on a shares basis for a couple of weeks..With the ground freezing, I have around 80 acres to walk and see what is there.Would love to have a 24 inch CS coil made...My problem is how to mark the hit spots, so they could be found in the Spring, and dug rapidly. If you are working beaches that are pock marked, make a drag and have someone pull it along for you..Flattens the surface, gives an extra inch or so, and shows where you have been on your way back from a mile up the beach,,,or down?Cordially NAD

I may have to add a 3 X 18 some time before next spring is gone.

On my other brand beach detector I have a 12 inch coil that when I get tired, I hold the detector shaft like I would drag the scoop (arms hanging loosely at sides and just holding the detector enough so it doesn't drop) and drag the coil behind me on the sand as I walk. The drag position keeps the coil nearly flat on the surface. When I hear a hit in the headset, I can turn and locate the target. Most of the time I can also see where I've been just in case I want to turn around and do the next 12 inches.

With a 3 x 18, I could drill the shaft at 90 degrees to the original holes and have the spring clips hold the coil so it covers an 18 inch wide path as I walk pulling it behind. Now I have to figure out if I should go for the Sandshark or the H.O.T. Cibola and Tejon first!
