Classic II coils?

KurtB

Member
Will coils 6.59kHz. coils work on the Classic II? If not, which ones will and what frequency is the Classic II? I'm having no luck finding specs. on this machine. Did a search and could'nt find the information I am looking for. Thanks for any help.

Kurt

Hi Kurt, I have a QXT Pro and a Classic. I have three coils that I swap between them: 5.3 Bullseye, 8 Precision Scan and Black Max 950. All the Whites 6.59kHz coils will work fine on your CII.

Regards,
Mike

There were the earlier Classic series models powered by 3-9V batteries and all of them used the old-style search coils. The early versions Classic III Plus used the newer Blue Max series of coils.

The newer version of the Classic series in the SL housing that uses the slide-in 8-AA battery tray are also a problem because the Classic III, Classic ID, Classic IDX and IDX Pro all share the BlueMax series of coils. That includes the Royal 800, ProScan 800, and all other coils that were designed to be used on the XLT, XL Pro, Quantum series, and the latter versions of the 5900 & 6000 Di pro SL's that also used the Blue Max coils.

The Classic II, however, uses the earlier-style search coils. Yes, the newer coils can work on the Classic II, but they will not work properly.

An exception to the coil selection of Blue max series is the 12" BM 256 that does work on the earlier models and the Classic II ... but not well on the other units that take the Blue Max coils.

Yes, the operating frequency is the same at 6.59 kHz, but there are other differences in circuitry than just the operating frequency.

Contact White's, directly, for coil clarification.

Hi Kurt, Monte is right about the coils. I currently owned a classic 11 and an idx and the coils will not id right. What I mean is that if I use the 8" coil from the classic11 on the idx, the coin id will be off. It will still beep on the coin but the id is off. I have th 8" coil and the 11" (256) blue max coil for the classic 11 and the 9.50 for the idx. And they are both 6.59 frequency machines. I guess since the classic 11 doesn't have a display , as long as the coins beep you might be able to use the coils from an XLT ( not sure though) but I know you can't interchange coils from the classic 11 to the idx. Thanks for the info. guys. I'll give Whites a call to find out what specific coils will work.
