Classic IDX IDX PRO

:look:A couple weeks ago I purchased 2 As New Classic IDX machines. I was told they are the same machine as the IDX Pro, only different label. I checked everything that I could think of and they indeed appear the same except different labels. The Classic IDX is advertised to have the new FLASH PHASE feature as the IDX POR does. Am I missing something? Is there some internal difference? Are they worth the same as the IDX Pro?

Basically subtle. They claim a slight increase in gain (sensitivity) with the IDX Pro, and having owned both of these models (several of each), I can tell you that most will never see the difference in performance.

The most obvious difference that will be seen is the decals are different, and especially different is the decal under the display. The IDX has the silvery, shiny decal that creates sun glare, while the IDX Pro's subdued, non-glare black decal doesn't create that problem.

Now, if there is an advantage to the 'original' IDX, it is this. If a person opts to have the modifications done by Bill Crabtree at Surfscanner Detectors, the resulting sensitivity boost will result in a unti that is just a titch 'hotter' than the factory IDX Pro.

One very basic fact remains ... regardless if it is an IDX or an IDX Pro, it is one of the more versatile, great-performing detectors you could own!

WOW......Now that is what I call results...Thanks Monte for the EMail and post. I took my Prizm V and one of my Classic IDX to the park last week and found myself using the Classic most of the day. I like my Prizm V but the Classic just kept pulling me back. It just made me feel more in touch.I am definatelly going to have Bill's Mod done to at least one of my Classics. Again thanks for the great info Monte.:D
